Believe me or not, in 2.5 years playing GW, I've never dropped an high end item. I was always broke since 1 year ago, when I started farming titan gemstones when they were worth 120k each, and yea, I got fow, plenty cash in storage, nice weps and all. Before that: nothing. Nice drops were and are a legend for me. You could argue that I am selling an item in the high end forum, but I'm doing it for a friend of mine, it's not even my item :l

Seems my chars have been created under a lucky star.
I just blame it on selective perception and too high expectations.
It is just so unlikely that Chrono Re delle Ere NEVER had an high end item drop.
Besides that, what is a high end drop nowadays? There are just not many around there, and perfect stat r9 gold weapons with good mods should not be something that NEVER dropped for anyone...

Good luck trying to find a PUG group to vanquish an area. The game has shifted to the point that it's easier to vanquish areas with Hero/Hench group (except Joko's Domain).

With inscriptions, mods are not that big of a deal. It would be nice to see more rare skin req 9 drops. I still don't understand why they quit dropping req 7 and 8 non inscriptable items. Getting uber rare item drops are kind of like playing the lottery, I don't expect to get/win them, but I play the game with the hopes of getting/winning them.
IMHO, one of the most exciting things to do in Guild Wars is identifying uninscribable items (or yearly GW birthday presents). I've had many opportunities to ID gold rare skinned Req 8 weapons, most were crap but a couple were 15^50's or +5e's. It's too bad that the newest players will never experience this thrill.

Im not sure you understand what the OP is getting at he said he has Vanquished all 3 campaigns thats 54 zones for tyria, 30 somethin for cantha and elona so all togeather he has CLEARED all monsters from 100+ zones (now each zone has 200-600 monsters in it and this is all hard mode) so alltogeather he has killed 40-60 thousand monsters and has had about a handful of golds drop most of which are r10+ non max mods, and a very few ammount of r9 golds with very few max mods. Now with all those monsters all being a high lvl 24-32 and the fact that it is HM you would think he would at least come out with a few hundred gold items but from the sound of it he got a handful and all were crap.

I'm still playing for fun. The only reason why I vanquished all three continents was for the titles to get a Rainbow Phoenix (not fun, kind of a grind). I'm just surprised about how bad the drops were and how little the gain of my characters net worth (gold, items, materials). For the months spent vanquishing my characters net worth gain was probably around 300K (121 zones, 1.5 hours/zone, 180 hours, 1.6K/hour). Thats pretty sad, from Wintersday farming for polar bear mini, my candy cane drops alone were probably worth 60K (6 hours, 10K/hour).
Elite armor and weapons are status symbols. Even in the best farming areas, how long would it take for an experienced player to farm enough gold/materials for a complete FOW armor set?
Again, I had a chance to make my gold/ectos early. I made plenty of money doing Deep runs (when Kanaxai's Edge went for 100K+30e) and Titan gem farms (again 100K items).
I'm well aware of the GW economy and the laws of supply and demand. But with the game growth rate decreasing and lack of new content, Anet should be doing something to maintain the popularity of this game (that is until GW2 is released).
For new players, Elite armor and elite weapons (req 8 15^50 rare skinned) are totally unattainable. IMHO, thats not fair.

I disagree with this one.
There are some cases where it can be enjoyable but more often than not you always have 2 people start arguing in the game calling each other noobs, you suck etc.
Its much better just playing with h/h cause they dont talk crap to each other, only to the foes.

inscribables are what ruined this game. drops still sucked then and were as bad as they were now, but at least everything could be sold for a decent amount of money (with greens being worth alot, ragos went over 100k easy and r13 15>50's cold fetch at least 20-30k). people actually formed full groups to chest run and everybdoy would be ecstatic to see someone get a gold from a chest b/c it was a group event to find a gold chest. even getting a gold was exciting b/c u didnt knwo wut mods were on the item. getting a good skin was no guarentee for a 15>50 mod, so even 13 vs hex gold good skin items sold for a bunch.
after inscribables appeared, weapons drops really didnt matter b/c u couldjsut slap on a 15>50 and call it a day. id'ing items became humdrum and lost that air of magic. items became worthless besides a few hot skins and evne those became boring b/c they were eventually farmed and the mods didnt matter. people complained they couldnt make money b/c items were worthless, although it was ironic b/c it was those same people who begged for inscriptions.
in short inscriptions for weapons ruined the game.

It's all as I said when NF came out. Farm nerfs combined with inscriptions pretty much screwed over the economy.
Inscriptions might seem a good idea for all players - Gold, purple, blue - You can put perfect stats on almost every weapon.
The truth is different, however. There was never a problem with getting weapons. One could always get collectors items and beat the game with it. It really was a treat to see a rare weapon drop which had 15^50. Weapons like these were kind of special when gold, and they deserved the market.
Golds didn't drop more often back then but money was WAY easier to make back then. If one needed cash he'd just take a henchman less and fight with 6 people in the Northern Shiverpeaks or with 4 people in Kryta. The player would get more drops and cash, and also a little more challenge.
Sure, the prices of gold items with good stats were up, but because cash was so easy to make, anybody could buy these weapons IF he/she wanted.
After Nightfall, with the AI change, lootscaling, inscriptions and heroes, everything got screwed over.
Items, wether they are blue, purple or gold, aren't special anymore. Max dmg Req 8's as good as never drop anymore, let alone max dmg req 7's, weapon mods and colour don't matter AT ALL...
Golds have lost their magic. The only thing they're good for is to ID them for a title.
